60 Young Street is a unique, tree lined site just west of London, Ontario. The design of the home is influenced by local domestic proportions and demonstrates a local palette of materials. The contrast of timber and stone emphasizes the different building elements as well as highlighting the entrance. The North / South orientation has been integral to the design using large glazed areas on the south façade as well as cantilevered forms providing solar shading. The house provides bright open spaces internally with a free flowing environment that is enhanced by the same materials as expressed on the outside of the home, creating a cohesive and complete design.
